Message from the Candidate
I am seeking the office of Sheriff for Cape May County as the Republican Candidate. I have been actively involved in the Cape May County law enforcement field for over 35 years. During this time, I worked for the Ocean City Police Department as a police officer, supervisor, and administrator. Currently, I am the Director of the Cape May County Public Safety Training Center, a vital component for Cape May County public safety personnel.
I have had the ability to see, from a very unique perspective, the Cape May County law enforcement community grow over time. I am proud to be a part of this community. During my tenure as a member of the Ocean City Police Department, and the last 10 years as Director of the Cape May County Public Safety Training Center, I have demonstrated my commitment to making these organizations the finest anywhere, through the application of honesty, integrity, dependability, knowledge, skills, and ability. With your support, I will apply these same qualities to advance the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office forward into the forefront of an ever changing law enforcement environment. As I did with the Cape May County Public Safety Training Center, I look at the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office not as it presently is, but what it can become, the finest public safety organization in all of New Jersey.
The next few years will bring some necessary changes to the Cape May County Correctional Center. There will be a new addition to the facility as well as upgrades in support facilities. I am the leader most capable of managing these changes. During my tenure at the Cape May County Public Safety Training Center, I had direct oversight responsibility for three major additions and improvements to that facility, participated in the design phases, and helped secure funding, saving the taxpayers of our county over 1.5 million dollars. We now have one of the best recognized training facilities in the state. I have 10 years experience working directly with our Freeholders preparing annual budgets while achieving financial objectives and always remaining cost conscious on behalf of taxpayers. Additionally, as a board member of Shore Memorial Hospital I sit on several committees, one being on their capital review committee and have gained vast amount of knowledge in preparing major projects.
Additionally, I intend to improve on security at our court houses by bringing the latest in available technology to protect the citizens, our judges, and increase efficiency allowing redeployment of personnel to reduce the cost to our taxpayers. As part of the Sheriff’s responsibilities, I plan on reviewing and improving on our new animal shelter with the goal of making it the finest in the state.
I also believe that our Sheriff’s Office should be more involved in the education and training of our citizens and children, and I will secure funding through various federal, state and private agencies to allow us to bring various programs such as traffic safety, senior programs, and The G.R.E.A.T. Program (Gang Resistance Education And Training). The G.R.E.A.T. program is a school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curriculum. With prevention as its primary objective, the program is intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership. This program offers a continuum of components for students and their families.
It takes a strong leader and administrator to make the right choices to advance any organization. Throughout my 35 years of service to the public safety community of Cape May County, I have developed the relationships, networks, and mutual respect of law enforcement and public safety personnel that are necessary to lead the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office into the future. During my 35 years of service to the citizens of Cape May County, I have demonstrated the honesty, integrity, dependability, knowledge, skills, and ability to manage and lead the Sheriff’s Office. I am the most qualified and most prepared to complete this task. I ask for your continued support and your vote on Election Day to allow me to continue to serve the law enforcement community of Cape May County as I have demonstrated during my career, “Public Safety With Honor.”
Thank you for taking the time to review my website, and I would appreciate your vote on Election Day, November 4, 2008. |
