Sheriff Gary Schaffer is seeking re-election to the Office of Sheriff for Cape May County as the Republican Candidate. He has been actively involved in the Cape May County law enforcement field for 38 years. This has given him the ability to see, from a very unique perspective, the Cape May County law enforcement community grow over this time. Gary is currently the Sheriff for Cape May County having retired from the Ocean City Police Department after serving over 25 years and for 10 years as the Director of the Cape May County Public Safety Training Center. Gary has devoted his energy, knowledge and work ethic to make the Sheriff’s Office the most professional sheriff’s office in the State of New Jersey.
Sheriff Schaffer directed management and technology changes that set the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office apart as a leader in law enforcement technology; while providing more law enforcement services and at the same time dramatically reducing the cost to the taxpayer. (Over one million dollars alone in 2010 with the Alternative to Incarceration Program and the Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program) Gary has demonstrated he has the work ethic, the honesty, integrity, dependability, knowledge, skills and ability to manage and lead the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office into the future.
